Our grassroots -
In 1989 Paul Smith joined UK Insurance Ltd to launch and develop their book of specialist insurance business. In the following 10 years the product range developed from a Travel portfolio to include Warranty, Payment Protection, Wedding & Other Specialist classes. Consistent underwriting profits delivered further growth opportunity.
In 1999 the business became part of Direct Line through the acquisition of UK Insurance Ltd. The business portfolio further developed to include Property and the specialist area of Social Housing.
In 2002, benefiting from the retreat of major players in to their core competencies, the company split from UKI/RBS to form a new underwriting agency called UK Underwriting Limited specialising in small to medium sized scheme business.
